Eskape to Seven Fish Success!
8th May 2010
The hectic vibe has subsided slightly and we’re left bereft of charity fever as we reflect on what a success our ‘ Eskape to Seven Fish’ eve was.
From the seating plan to the auction board - EVERYTHING had to be planned to the most minute detail. We all worked so hard and to all those who had a hand in helping did us very proud indeed. We’re so grateful to so many.
The evening itself went swimmingly well. With Glass of champagne in hand (ready to hand out to arriving guests) we braced ourselves as the 140 plus guests began to arrive. With the ever organised Lucy on the door ticking off names and collecting tickets to Amie with the welcoming smile who were directed through to Hedi, Lou and Ali who showed Guests around, we had the do off to a fine art from the start!!
The droves arrived in their colourful finery, ready to embark on a fun filled evening. James Brown stunned guests with his illusions, Waiters handed out sumptuous canapes and the finest champagne flowed. It was the start of something good…
There seemed so much to squeeze in to one evening: us Eskape girls did not stop from the word ‘go’ . There were Raffle tickets to sell, Auction lot bids to submit from ever hopeful bidders, More champagne for table eight…there were people to see and new faces with which to become acquainted. It was nicely relentless and suddenly Heidi turned to me and said ‘Have you seen how many people are here!!?’ I looked across the room and a sea of faces laughed and chatted happily before my eyes, the ambiance was electric.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get much better the band ‘encore’ (who, incidentally were amazing!!) and guests started to dance and shimmy on the dance floor - result!!
It was a wonderful feeling to know we had created such a vibe -collectively, as a team we had succeeded in throwing a thoroughly good bash. They don’t call us Eskape Hairdressers and event planners for nothing you know!!
Auction bids poured in from every direction - as bids crept higher and higher we could for see what big money the auction was going to pull in. Of course, as one would expect the auction lot ‘Seven fish cooking in your home, with Eskape girls waitressing’ reached the highest amount. A staggering seven hundred pounds!! What a success and still another fourteen lots bringing showing promising results!!
Wish lanterns were sold during the course of the evening too which were lit at the close of the night and released, with a wish…These were a lovely end to a perfect evening.
Heidi concluded with a brilliant speech, thanking all who had been involved. She was presented with some beautiful flowers by Steve, the owner of Propaganda and seven fish. It has to be said, they were very much deserved and in the effort and planning stakes for this event, we won hands down!!
The only times the Eskape team could fully let their hair down (mighty gorgeous hair it is too, styled by the best hairdressers in the South)was for a final boogie whilst the band hammered out their very final song. How quickly the magical evening had come to a close and the only reminder of our wonderful evening were empty champagne bottles and the last chatter of remaining staff - who were definitely ready for bed!! We needed to be as fresh as possible for work the next day - Business as usual (by Gosh that was one hard day for us all)
The best bit is, we manged to raise a staggering eight thousand pounds for ‘have a heart’ which is supporting ‘The Starlight Children’s Foundation’. All money raised for ‘have a heart’ will go straight to Starlight. We can relax (a little, ‘ til the next one)
